The Research Training Group 2088 “Discovering structure in complex data“ at the University of Göttingen is looking for a

STUDENT ASSISTANT

in the group of Prof. Dr. Axel Munk. Starting date is as soon as possible. The position is offered with regular working hours of up to 10 hours/week and is limited until September 30, 2021 with the possibility of extension.

Your tasks

• You read selected, new publications on algorithms in the areas of optimal transport, Wasserstein distances and barycenters

• You implement various methods and compare them against established methods

•You are enrolled at the University of Göttingen, study mathematics, physics or computer science and you haven’t yet obtained a master’s degree

• You have programming knowledge of R and preferably C++

•You have a good background in Mathematical Statistics and Optimization

• You are proficient in written and spoken English

• You like to work in a team
